Quiana Casamayor from the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform on Abortion
Today’s show explores a topic that is as divisive as any: abortion.
If you are facing mental health challenges because you or your partner has had an abortion, reaching out for professional help in the form of therapy or counselling, or finding resources and support from groups like Project Rachel at hopeafterabortion.com may help with the healing process. If discussions on this subject are challenging for you, please use your discretion before watching.
Angered shouting matches, politicized slogans and vitriol have become the norm when abortion is discussed and debated, which prevents meaningful dialogue and the pursuit of truth on the subject. To avoid that all too common outcome, this episode will attempt to layout the facts on abortion medically and ethically in two parts.
Firstly, we will look at the science of human embryology, early human development, sexual reproduction and basic biology to establish a framework to discuss the subject.
We will then look at the current state of abortion laws in Canada, and discuss whether they are just or unjust, and then get into many of the key points of contention that divide the pro-life and pro-abortion sides of this debate.
Joining Adam for this challenging but necessary conversation is the Calgary Volunteer Coordinator of the Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform, Quiana Casamayor.
