When most Canadians think of the Canada Revenue Agency, they aren’t thinking happy thoughts. Unfathomable on hold wait times, unclear and inaccurate information, bloated bureaucracy and above all else the dreaded tax season rush to mind when I think of the CRA.

Many Canadians would love to see less government in their lives, less government in general… and certainly less taxes, but despite Carney’s recent budgetary promises to reel in Canada’s unsustainable public service workforce the government is now looking at increasing the CRAs capacity and powers by enabling them to both file and collect taxes for some Canadians.

To discuss whether this is merely a streamlining process or a conflict-of-interest riddled power grab, Adam was joined by Kris Sims, the Alberta Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
