Mark Meincke on the Canadian Government Offering MAID to Veterans:
Viewers who might be sensitive to conversations about mental health including the topic of self-harm should use their discretion before proceeding with watching this interview.
Veterans put everything on the line to serve their countries, and sometimes they pay physical and psychological tolls in the line of duty. There has historically been an understanding that when a soldier has our backs, we should probably have theirs in return. Sadly, governments have repeatedly fallen short of caring for the physical and especially the mental wellbeing of soldiers when they need help the most, but that failure turned to outright betrayal when Veterans Affairs Canada is alleged, in some cases repeatedly, to have offered veterans asking for help euthanasia instead of support.
Mark Meincke, a veteran who channeled his struggle with PTSD into the incredible Operation Trauma Recovery podcast, has been an outspoken critic of the governments callousness and testified before the house of commons about veterans being directed towards medical assistance in dying after seeking help from Veterans Affairs Canada.
Mark joined Adam to discuss this heartbreaking reality that paints a rather grim but altogether too accurate picture of how Canada treats its fallen and wounded warriors
