Many have an healthy appreciation for the importance of farming. They understand that without the tireless efforts of farmers, who work hours most couldn’t imagine, in some cases just to break even… or even to wind up in the red.
Farmer’s work so vigilantly because their livelihood isn’t just a job, it is a calling, a vocation. They understand that if they don’t show up and get the job done, people go hungry.
Despite the undeniably pivotal role they play in building and preserving civilization, with agriculture and farming being among the bedrocks of civilization as we know it, some out there seem to have forgotten why farming matters. You have no doubt seen videos on social media of progressive youth saying farming needs to be done away with because it is hurting the environment. These types think food just magically appears at the grocery store. There is a cognitive disconnect that must be addressed.
